Preston Park Vintage Vehicle and Fire Engine Rally 2017

Preston Park Vintage Vehicle and Fire Engine Rally 2017

Preston Park Museum

Serving and retired firefighters from the region will come together in Stockton to assist Stockton Borough Council Events Team and TAFER in celebrating the 36th anniversary of one of the country’s oldest fire engine rallies this month, which also helps to raise funds for the Firefighters Charity.

The annual Fire Engine and Vintage Vehicle Rally, held at Preston Park in Eaglescliffe, Tees-side celebrates the history of firefighting from the past to modern day.

Now in the 36th year, this year’s event will take place on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th June.

The weekend displays a host of modern and vintage fire engines, along with a selection of vintage cars, military and commercial vehicles and farm machinery.

Most notably two very special guests at this year’s event include a 1992 Dennis Rapier and a 1992 Volvo Triple Agent Tender. Both of which are now preserved in private ownership. These appliances will be reunited for the first time this year since they both attended the largest peacetime fire on Tees-side at the BASF Wilton Site in 1995. The Volvo was the first appliance in attendance from the on-site ICI Fire Brigade and the Dennis Rapier Durham County Fire Brigade of was part of a 35 pump reinforcing support from around the region.

The Volvo appliance also responded as part of a national response to the Buncefield Oil Storage Fire on 11th December 2005 in Hertfordshire, which is quite an accolade for an Industrial Appliance.

This year we also welcome live arena performances from ‘Swampthing – the 4x4 Monster Truck display act’ and ‘The White Helmets – the internationally acclaimed motorcycle display team of The Royal Corps of Signals’ which will be one of their last performances this summer before the team is disbanded.

Additional attractions at the show include craft and food stalls, side shows, a fun fair, trade stands and auto-jumble stalls, bungee trampolines, arena displays, including the best in vehicle entertainment, classic clowning, emergency services demonstrations and much more. Of course there is also a full food court.

Preston Hall Museum with its historic street will also be open over the weekend.

The event opens between 1100hrs and 1700hrs on both Saturday and Sunday.

The event is situated just north of the rural town of Yarm near to the A66 and access can also be made from the A19.

Free car parking on site and dogs on leads welcome.
