Festival co-director Andy Carr said, “We’re absolutely delighted with how this year’s Twisterella is shaping up and we’re incredibly proud of the calibre of bands that we’re once again bringing to Teesside. We are passionate about presenting Middlesbrough as a confident town and one that is very much at the cutting edge for showcasing the finest emerging talent.”

Launched in 2014, Twisterella has already played host to Clean Cut Kid, Spring King, Fickle Friends, Eliza and the Bear, Prides, Fatherson, Black Honey, Cattle & Cane, Beach Baby, Frankie & The Heartstrings, Jake Isaac, Du Blonde, WHITE, Sweet Baboo, Menace Beach, Hyde & Beast, PINS and many more - so it's no surprise that it's been nominated as the Best New Festival on the Block in the Association of Independent Festivals Awards.

What's more, the promoters involved in Twisterella both have a long history of attracting breaking acts to the region, having previously secured Teesside shows from the likes of Mumford & Sons, The 1975, Wolf Alice, The Vaccines, James Bay, Catfish & The Bottlemen, Palma Violets, Frank Turner, First Aid Kit, Daughter, Alt-J and many more earlier in their careers.

As in previous years at Twisterella, BBC Tees new music aficionado Bob Fischer has selected the opening acts for each of the main stages, with Plaza, James Leonard Hewitson, Eve Conway, Ridley Woof and Figmennt getting the nod this year.

Along with the finest local talent, this year's line-up has an international flavour with South African electro-pop act Josh Wantie and quirky Dutch songstress Pip Blom joining some of the UK's finest emerging acts.

If you like being ahead of the curve, Twisterella is undoubtedly the place to be on Saturday 7th October.
